Garry Kinsey

Obituary of Garry Allan Kinsey

Garry Allan Kinsey was born on August 26, 1947 in Monroe, Michigan. He was one of four children born from the union of his parents: the late Maynard and the late Helen (Rathke) Maynard.

Garry would meet Anita DuVall and they married on May 5, 1967 at St. Joseph Church in Erie. From this union came the birth of two children. Garry cared deeply for his family and worked hard to care for them as a construction laborer with the Local Union 499.

A friend to all, Garry enjoyed having coffee with his buddies and breakfast with his brother on Saturdays. He was quite the jokester and a natural family man, never missing his grandchildren’s football games, volleyball games and musicals. Garry loved cooking for his Erie Fire Department family, where he was an active member for over seventeen years before becoming an Honorary Member. A jack-of-all trades, Garry had a never-ending supply of tools and could fix, remodel or build just about anything.

In his spare time, Garry enjoyed being outdoors. He would often cruise around on his golf cart and making his yard look immaculate with his John Deere tractor. Garry always showed his love and never missed a chance to tell his loved ones “I Love You.” To know Garry was to love him and he will be missed dearly.

Garry A. Kinsey, age 71 of Erie, passed away on September 13, 2018 with his family by his side. In addition to his parents, his passing is preceded by his In-Laws: Put and Evelyn DuVall; a nephew: Mark DuVall-Angelocci; and two brothers-in-law: Frank Riley and Jerry Welton.

To cherish his memory, Garry leaves his beloved wife of 51 years: Anita Kinsey; two children: Tarry (Amy) Kinsey and Carrie (Shane) Larrow; four grandchildren: Courtney Kinsey, Neve Larrow, Wyatt Larrow and Cooper Kinsey; a brother: Larry (Karon) Kinsey; and two sisters: Linda Riley and Sharon Welton. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, extended family members and friends.

Friends may gather on Saturday, September 22, 2018 from 1:00pm until a casual Memorial Service at 5:00pm at Merkle Funeral Service, South Monroe, 14567 South Dixie Highway (734)241-7070.

In Lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Erie Fire Department or Mason Touchdowners.
