Obituary of Betty "Jean" Jean Wright
Betty Jean Wright was born on July 4, 1945 in Monroe, Michigan. She was one of two daughters born from the union of her parents: the late John Wright and the late Nellie (Green) Wright. She attended high school at Monroe High and graduated with the class of 1963. She decided to further her education and attended college at Western Michigan University until moving to Arizona with her aunt. She enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served her country until she was honorably discharged. Following her military service, she went back to college to pursue a career as a massage therapist.
She worked at Mercy Memorial Hospital in Monroe for many years in the admissions department while also putting her education to good use by volunteering for Hospice and providing numerous patients with comfort and relaxation with the powers of touch massage. Jean also extended her services at Frenchtown Senior Center and the Center for Healthy Aging, also in Monroe.
In her younger years, she loved to travel to as many places as possible including Germany, Arizona and Maryland. She loved her cats and enjoyed caring and spending time with her feline friends. In her spare time, she enjoyed completing crossword puzzles, reading and watching movies.
Betty Jean Wright, age 73, of Monroe passed away on August 2, 2018 in her home. Her passing is preceded by her parents.
To cherish her memory, she leaves her sister: Gail (Daniel) Austin of Streamwood, Illinois; two nieces: Danielle Austin of Illinois and Amanda (Kyle) Collier of Illinois; 3 great nieces; her longtime friend of 40+ years: Glenn Emerson and many extended family members and friends.
