Obituary of Nancy Lavada Neely-Marino
Nancy Lavada Hall was born in Lubbock, Texas on June 22, 1938. She was the only daughter of four children born to the late Robert Scott and Ruby Lavada (Sweeny) Hall.
Nancy was blessed with the birth of five children. She took her responsibility of being a mother very seriously. Being a single mother for many years she worked hard to support her family all her life. She began waitressing at the age of 16, and in this capacity, would spend forty years in service to others. She moved to Monroe thirty years ago and took employment locally with Ernie’s before retiring in 1994.
Nancy’s strong Christian convictions guided her throughout her life. She was an active member of Monroe Missionary Baptist Church. Here she taught Vacation Bible School for many years and had participated with the widow’s support group.
Nancy was independent and strong-willed. She made herself available to her children and grandchildren whenever she was needed. Serving as an excellent role model to those around her, she loved to entertain, was an amazing cook, and had been a voluntary grandmother for local elementary schools. Somehow with all of her accomplishments she still found time to be an excellent bowler.
Nancy, age 80, of Monroe passed away at her home on Sunday, August 5, 2018. In addition to her parents her passing was preceded by a husband: Sam Marino; and three brothers: George Hall, Preston Hall, and Harold Wayne Hall.
To cherish her memory he leaves five children: Terry Don (Joyce) Lowe of Lubbock, Texas, Donna Kay (Glen) Ries of Houston, Texas, Richard Eugene Ausbrooks of Monroe, Connie Renea Neely-Clippert of Monroe, and Robin Michell Barbosa (Missy) of Lincoln Park; eight grandchildren: Angela Lowe of Tennessee, Kimberly Kay (Alan) Whittington of Houston, Keith Aaron (Emily) Ries of Houston, Kyle Alan (April) Ries of Houston, Tina Renea Neely of Monroe, Danielle Justine Ausbrooks of Monroe, Paige Michelle Neely of Monroe, and Gracelyn Renea Barbosa of Lincoln Park; and ten great grandchildren.
Friends may gather from 2:00pm-6:00pm on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at Merkle Funeral Service, South Monroe, 14567 South Dixie Highway (734) 241-7070.
