Howard Borden

Obituary of Howard Edward Borden

Howard Edward Borden was born April 9, 1938 in Detroit, Michigan. He was one of eleven children born from the union of his parents: the late Elmo Borden and the late Marion (Hirsch) Borden. Howard enlisted in the United States Navy in 1958 and proudly served his country until he was honorably discharged in 1964.

He met and married the love of his life: Phyllis Estridge on August 10, 1967. They had a beautiful marriage and decided to start a family of their own and were blessed with two daughters. To support his family, he worked as a paint technician for BASF until he retired in 1998.

One of Howard’s favorite things to do was to go fly-fishing and he often traveled with his best friend Ed for fishing adventures.  He enjoyed being outdoors and taking walks in the park. He especially loved doing this with his beloved late dog Ralphy.

He loved to eat and was always talking about food.   Howard was known at diners near and far and took pride in knowing what was good on the menu.  He had a love for cars and would work on race cars in his younger years and still enjoyed watching drag racing on the television.

Howard was independent, private, and always put his family and friends first.  He lived each day doing the things he loved.   To know Howard was to love him, and he will be missed by many.

Howard Edward Borden, age 80, of Romulus, passed away on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at Beaumont Hospital in Trenton surrounded by his loving family. His passing is preceded by his wife of 36 years: Phyllis Borden; his brothers: Mickey Borden and Tommy Borden; his sister: Judy Wilkins and his parents.
