Obituary of Ruth Fox
Ruth Werner was born in Detroit, Michigan on August 3, 1930. She was the daughter of the late Kurt Werner and the late Johanne (vom Steeg) Werner. Ruth graduated from MacKenzie High School in 1948 and attended Wayne State University graduating in 1952 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Library Science.
While at Wayne State, Ruth met her future husband, Donald H. Fox, at a Frat party. The couple were joined in marriage on April 9, 1954, and they would be blessed with the birth of three children.
Ruth cared for the needs of her family as a homemaker. From time to time she also assisted Donald in his dental practice. She enjoyed staying active in the community and was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Adrian Garden Club, and for many years volunteered in the library at Bixby Hospital.
Ruth loved to socialize and made many close, lifelong friends with her Bridge Club. She was an avid reader and gardener, and was a fantastic cook often making German dishes and experimenting with tofu due to Donald’s red meat allergy. Many wonderful times were spent over the course of thirty years at the Irish Hills cottage on Devils Lake.
