Obituary of Jace Allen Smith
Jace Allen Smith was born September 26, 1996 in Monroe. He was one of two children born from the union of his parents: the late Nathan Harris and Melissa (Smith) Ridgell. He received his education from Monroe High School and graduated with the class of 2015.
Jace was a hard and very dedicated worker. He was employed through SCF Services for four years where he spent countless hours roofing homes and businesses. He was very close with his family but shared a special bond with his baby sister Jaiden, whom he always was there to protect; and his two cousins Karla and Kortney, whom he spent many summers camping at Marble Lake.
He loved spending time on the water fishing or jet skiing. He was a social butterfly who made friends easily and he was always up for spending time them. He was known to be flirtatious at times, making him very popular with the ladies. In his down time, he enjoyed playing video games and watching countless movies.
His kind heart and the best hugs will be missed by everyone who knew him. To know Jace was to love him and he will be forever cherished by those he left behind.
Jace Allen Smith, age 21, of Monroe, passed away on Friday, July 13, 2018 unexpectedly at his home. His passing is preceded by his father: Nathan Harris, his maternal grandfather: Charles “Chuck” Smith and his great grandfathers: Carl Ford and Harold Shock.
To cherish his memory, he leaves his mother: Melissa Ridgell; his sister: Jaiden Harris; his maternal grandmother: Marcia Lindquist; his paternal grandparents: Joan and Bobby Harris; his great grandmothers: Carol Ford and Eunice Shock and many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members and friends.
Friends may gather on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 from 2:00pm until 8:00pm at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street, (734) 384-5185. He will lie in state on Thursday, July 19, 2018 from 10:00am until a Celebration of His Life at 11:00am at North Monroe Street Church of God, 2393 North Monroe. Burial will take place at Roselawn Memorial Park in LaSalle.
