Obituary of Reverend Keith Neil Crutchfield

Keith Neil Crutchfield was born in Monroe on April 27, 1951.   He was one of two children the son of the late Joe Neal Crutchfield and Hazel (Buchanan) Crutchfield.   Keith attended Jefferson High School graduating in 1969.   He furthered his education at Eastern Michigan University.

Keith married the love of his life the former, Linda Sue Miles, on November 29, 1974 at the Monroe Missionary Baptist Church.   The couple had a formidable bond and shared in the birth of two children:  Angela and Cody, and twenty-nine years of marriage before Linda’s passing in 2003.   Keith supported his family with employment for more than twenty-five years as an automotive engineer before taking retirement in 2016.

He was a member of Monroe Missionary Baptist Church, faith in Christ was always at the core of Keith’s life.   He was an ordained Baptist minister, and had served as pastor of two local churches in Monroe County.   Keith enjoyed sharing with others about God’s love.

He enjoyed building and flying model airplanes and rockets with his son, as well as teaching others about science and engineering.   Keith loved taking black and white photography and developing his own photos.   This was a passion he had for more than forty years.

Rev. Keith Neil Crutchfield, age 67, of Carleton passed away at home under the care of his loving family, Great Lakes Caring Hospice, and Friends of the Family Agency at 12:59am on Sunday, May 13, 2018.   His passing was preceded by his wife and father.

To cherish his memory, he leaves two children:  Angela (Chad) Ragsdel of Monroe and Cody N. Crutchfield of Carleton; mother:  Hazel Crutchfield of North Port, Florida; one sister:  Judy (Doug) Henegar of Rotunda West, Florida; two grandchildren:  Sydney Ragsdel and Briella Ragsdel; a beloved friend of the past fifteen years:  Gretchen Inoue. five nephews; and one niece.

Friends may gather from 4:00pm until 8:00pm on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at Merkle Funeral Service, South Monroe, 14567 South Dixie Highway (734) 241-7070.   A Celebration of His Life will take place at 11:00am on Friday, May 18, 2018 also at Merkle’s with Rev. Bob Baltrip with Liberty Missionary Baptist Church officiating.   Procession will follow to Roselawn Memorial Park in LaSalle for burial.
