Obituary of Phillip Patrick Burgard

Phillip Patrick Burgard was born on July 13, 1940 in Erie, Michigan. He was one of ten children born from the union of his parents, the late Joseph Burgard and the late Edna (Mominee) Burgard. He received his education by attending St. Joseph’s Catholic School in Erie.

Phillip enjoyed the outdoors and being on the farm, earning his nickname “Farmer”. He was very outgoing and enjoyed his time spent on the road. He worked for forty years at Ford Motor Company in Monroe, Michigan as a hi-lo driver until driving tow trucks, which he did for the past ten years. During his time on the road, he made many stops to catch a glimpse of the beautiful places he passed along the way. He had a love for vehicles, especially old trucks and cars.

He had an outgoing personality and was always happy and smiling. He enjoyed a good time and was always willing to help others. He was full of life and was known for his strong personality. It was said that once he made his mind up, there was no changing it. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He especially enjoyed time with his son, Nicholas, whom he loved dearly. There are no words to describe their irreplaceable bond.
