Obituary of Marvin Dean Lewis
Marvin Dean Lewis was born in Monroe, Michigan on November 09, 1936. He was born from the union of the late Enos and the late Marie (Vandercook) Lewis. He graduated from Airport High School with the class of 1957. Marvin enlisted into the United States Navy days after receiving his diploma, he served his country honorable for four years obtaining the rank of E-3 Hospitalman.
Marvin married the love of his life, former Linda Seger, on June 23, 1962 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Monroe, Michigan. From this union came the birth of two children. Marvin was a devoted husband and father. For eighteen years he supported his family through employment with La-Z-Boy as a parts machinist. He later went on to Ford Motor Company in Milan, working on the assembly line, taking retirement in 1998 after twenty years.
Marvin and Linda made a good team and were inseparable. They were a true love story, holding hands in bed through their fifty-four years. He enjoyed spending his retirement with his family and spending winters in his fifth wheel down south. The couple often camped with their best friends and enjoyed fishing together. He couldn’t love anything more than the time spent with his family, especially his children and grandchildren.
Marvin Lewis, age 81, of LaSalle passed away on Monday, March 19, 2018 peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family. Marvin was preceded in death by his loving wife: Linda Lewis in 2016.
To cherish his memory, Marvin leaves a son: Michael (Tammy) Lewis of Carleton; a daughter: Kim (Jeff) Davis of LaSalle; four grandchildren: Jeffery (Amy Owens) Davis Jr. of Monroe, Megan (Frank DuVall) Davis of LaSalle, Michael Lewis Jr. of Monroe and Heather (Eric) Reid- Johnson of Taylor; and four great-grandchildren: Austin, Jax, Paisley and Addison.
Friends may gather on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at 3:00pm until 8:00pm at Merkle Funeral Service, North Monroe 2442 North Monroe Street (734)384-5185. A celebration of his life will take place on Friday, March 23, 2018 at 10:00am also at Merkle’s with Chaplain Michael Gilbert of ProMedica Hospice officiating. Procession will follow to St. Joseph Cemetery in Monroe for entombment.
