Obituary of Joseph Andrew Timko
Joseph Andrew Timko was born on November 30, 1934 in Monroe, Michigan. He was one of two sons born from the union of the late John Timko and the late Mary (Capp) Timko. Joseph attended Monroe High School and graduated with the class of 1952. He enlisted in the United States Army and served until he was honorably discharged.
Joseph married the love of his life Esther Murdock on July 11, 1959 at St. Joseph’s Church in Monroe. From this union came two children: David and Suzanne Timko. Joseph worked hard to support his family. He worked for La-Z-Boy for 27 years becoming the foreman until the Monroe production plant closed. He then went to work for General Motors for 20 years until retiring.
Joseph was a member of St. Joseph Church and attended weekly service for his whole life until they closed. He then attended service at St. John’s Catholic Church. He enjoyed bowling at Nortel Lanes for many years on a league. He always kept up with what was going on around him, he could be found at home watching the news, or reading the newspaper in the company of his dog Zoey whom he adored.
Above all, Joseph was a family man. He was a great provider for his family and would do absolutely anything for them. He was selfless, soft spoken, gentle and was the true definition of a great husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed by many.
Joseph Andrew Timko, age 83, and lifetime resident of Monroe, passed away on Monday, March 12, 2018 at Henry Ford Hospital in Wyandotte, Michigan after a brave battle of four weeks. He is preceded in death by his parents.
To cherish his memory, he leaves his wife Esther Timko of 59 years; his children: David Timko of Monroe and Suzanne Timko of Monroe; his brother: John (Dorothy) Timko of Monroe; his five grandchildren: Morgan, Taylor, Hannah, Nick and Jake and many extended family members and friends.
