Viola Moore

Obituary of Viola Moore

Viola (Turner) Moore passed away peacefully in her home on March 5, 2018 in Monroe, Michigan at the age of 82.

Viola was born on December 16, 1935 in Tazewell, Tennessee.   She moved to Monroe, Michigan as a young wife and mother to raise her family while holding down a fulltime job before retiring from Dundee Cement Company in 1985.   Viola loved spending time with her grandchildren, going back “home” to visit, watching old game shows, and playing bingo.   Viola was an avid gardener with an amazing gift for growing flowers and vegetables.   She would often share a bouquet, seeds or cuttings with family and friends.   Viola loved to sing and could be heard singing along with her favorite country tunes or just by herself.   At times her singing could be mistaken for the radio playing.   Viola did not know how to say no when someone needed her.   She was an excellent caregiver to her husband of many years before he passed away in 1998.

Viola is survived by her children: Donna (Robert) Patterson; Betty Owens; Teresa (Dale) Thompson; Arnold Moore Jr.; Alan (Paula) Moore; Linda (Brian) Martin; Jeffrey Moore; and Gregory (Constance) Moore.  Her grandchildren: Tracy Moss, Lori Scott, Jessie Dennis, Michael Patterson, Alicia Patterson, Michael (Nichole) Owens, Ronald Owens, Kathryn (Jake) Ellison, Kaylene (Daniel) Brewer, Alex Moore, Victoria Hannah, Stephan (Tiffany) Rogers, Elissa (Jason) Flint, Tristan (Timothy) Curry, Aryn (Isaiah) Turner, Garrick Martin, Carleigh Martin, Nathan (Cate) Moore, Joshua (Mychaela) Moore, Constance Moore and Zadin Moore, 29 great grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren. Viola is also survived by two brothers: Avit Turner and Delbert (Shirley) Turner, both of Tn. Her passing was preceded by two grandchildren, her parents Wylie Lee and Margaret Louetta (Wolford) Turner, four sisters, and six brothers.
