Obituary of Marilyn Louise Sharpe
Marilyn was born on September 4, 1945. She went home to be with the Lord on March 4, 2018 at the age of 72. She was one of seven siblings growing up in Monroe, Mi.
Marilyn enjoyed vacationing in tropical places, especially Aruba and Jamaica. Marilyn often wrote beautiful poetry inspired by those she loved. She was known for her green thumb and her love for exotic birds. Marilyn was happiest spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, with them she enjoyed arts and crafts, baking, teaching them her computer skills, playing dominoes and card games.
Marilyn “Mert” hired into Ford Motor Company September of 1972. She took great pride in being among one of the first groups of women to be hired into the Monroe plant, after 30 years she retired in 2002.
Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Orlie (Wellman) Cordle. A sister: Denise Dykstra; and two brothers: Jack Cardle and Ervin Cordle.
To cherish her memory, Marilyn leaves her three children: Valerie, Brian, and Jeffery (Tom Sharpe); nine grandchildren: Nicole, Jocelyn, Korchel, Kelcie, Jacob, Ronica, Joshua, Catelyn, Kyleigh; and eight great-grandchildren: Jaziray, Gage, Marquis, Nathan, Nicholas, Nevaeh “Vae”, Kendrick, and Jade; two sisters: Betty (Buddy) Lamb and Rose Robinson; one brother: Kenneth “Bob” (Lucy) Cordle.
Friends may gather on Friday, March 9, 2018 from 2:00pm until 8:00pm at Merkle Funeral Service, South Monroe, 14567 South Dixie Highway (734) 241-7070. A Celebration of Her Life will take place at 1:00pm on Saturday, March 10, 2018 also at Merkle with her Pastor Heather Boone of Oaks of Righteousness officiating.
