Dear Scott & Shelly,
I was saddened to hear of Mrs. Vorrath's passing. I have fond memories of her when I would visit with Scott. She was so full of energy and always wanting to be doing something. The last time I saw her was in her Irish hills home and she showed me her art studio which she was so proud of. She was really a talented woman. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this sad time. I will always remember Mr. Vorrath fondly.
God Bless,
Mike Wellborn

My condolence on the passing of Lois, your mother. Scott and Shelly, I met you both long ago while a senior at MHS - almost 50 years ago. Your parents hired me to work at their first Kentucky Fried Chicken in Monroe. They were the BEST! I moved away in the 1980's, but my parents still lived in Monroe. Around 2009, I was up in Monroe at Meijer's running errands for my father. I came face to face with your mother. We immediately hugged upon recognizing each other, and had a wonderful conversation. She was still the beautiful, thoughtful lady, I had the pleasure of knowing. Gods grace, blessings and prayers of comfort as you celebrate a life well-lived.

Our First Meeting
I met Lois through her daughter Shelly, we attended high school together at St. Mary Academy in Monroe. One day after school we went to Shelly's parents house for me to be introduced to everyone including JJ the family pet. The time was the early fall circa 1972-73.
I had just been introduced and as I would find out later Lois was going at full steam, supervising the pool work the men of the family were doing, cooking dinner and talking with us girls. Wally said hi and went into the backyard with Scott, they were following Lois directions on what was needed to be done with the built in pool. In the back door came JJ the bouncy, happy, cute as a button wire haired terrier.
The first thing JJ did was to pee on my right shoe. Lois looked down smiling, handed me a paper towel and said oh good JJ likes you, that's how everyone is greeted that she likes. It went on from there.
Lois taught both Shelly and I so much about life, business and she could do anything... attend auctions, organized a trip to Amish country in Indiana, Detroit Lions games at the Silverdome, Bonsai, cat rehabilitation, sew, advise in so many areas, I could just go on and on with all she did.
Lois was such a talented woman. She was the first women I came into contact with that was not only a mom but was also a business person along with so many of the roles she filled within our society and her church. I will always be here for Shelly and Scott, May memories of Lois Vorrath be eternal.
