Doris Mae Geiman
June 5, 1929-November 7, 2011
Doris Mae Berns was born in Newport, Michigan on June 5, 1929. She was born from the union of the late Arthur and Bertha (Falk) Berns.
Doris married the love of her life Kenneth Geiman on June 15, 1946 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Monroe, Michigan and from this union; they raised two wonderful children.
Doris had a great love for her church and was a very active member of the congregation where she served on the Ladies Aide. She was also a YMCA member and had participated with water aerobics until she was 79.
Doris had a generous heart and a quick wit. She had a great love for her family and especially loved cooking for them. Her family would rave that her cookies, homemade pickles, ground bologna and strawberry jam was the best they ever tasted. Doris also had quite a green thumb, and truly enjoyed being out in nature. She especially loved to vacation at the Sleeping Bear Dunes, Glenn Lake and their cottage in Rose City. Doris was very appreciative of everything and everyone that came into her life.
Doris Mae Geiman, age 82, passed away at 10:40am on November 7, 2011 at the Lutheran Home. She had been under the care of Mercy Memorial Hospice of Monroe. In addition to her parents, her passing was preceded by her husband: Kenneth; two sisters: Dorothy Brown and Alice Boudrie; and a grandson: Ian Geiman-Dillon.
To cherish her memory Doris leaves behind one daughter: Laura (Ron) Matteson of Monroe; one son: David (Sheryl) Geiman of Monroe; seven grandchildren: Jill (Travis) Wilson of Ida, Michael Geiman of Bowling Green, Ohio, Justin (Chanel) Taylor of Texas, Joshua (Angela) Taylor of Georgia, Kelyn (Josh) Eickenberry of Monroe, Lindsay Taylor of Georgia, and Connor Geiman-Dillon of Monroe; six great grandchildren: Cody, Adam, Katlyn, Bayleigh, Brooklyn, and Jack; and two great grandchildren on the way.
