Deborah Bayer

Obituary of Deborah Jane Bayer

Deborah Jane Bayer was born on March 23, 1957 in Monroe.   She was the oldest child and only daughter of five children born from the union of the late Leonard “Benjamin” and Charlotte (Meszoras) Bayer.   Deborah attended Jefferson High School and graduated with the class of 1976.   She later completed several college courses to further her education.

Deborah worked as a Nurse’s Aide at the Immaculate Heart of Mary in Monroe for more than twenty years.   She loved her work and she especially enjoyed caring for others until taking a medical retirement in 2001.

Deborah loved listening to music, and she was an avid Bob Segar fan, attending several concerts over the years.   She was blessed with a daughter Amanda.   The two were very close and Deborah was a second mother to her three grandchildren even cutting their umbilical cords.   Deborah was a beautiful person inside and out.   She was the true definition of a caretaker and nurturer, being filled with life she enjoyed telling jokes and making others smile.

Deborah Jane Bayer, age 60, of Detroit, passed away at her home under the care of Great Lakes Caring Hospice on Saturday, January 6, 2018. In addition to her parents her passing was preceded by a brother: Jeff Bayer; and her best friend and Amanda’s father: Stanley Rozycki.

To cherish her memory, she leaves her beloved daughter: Amanda Mills of Detroit; three grandchildren: Dustyn Bayer, Baillie Mills, and Cayden Mills all of Detroit; three brothers: Brian (Robin) Bayer, Doug Bayer both of Detroit, and Don Bayer (Laura Long) of Livonia; and six nieces and nephews: Kelly (Bill) Kryscynski, Erin (Justin) Tisdale, and Jeremy (Nicole) Bayer, Craig (Sarah) Bayer, Matthew Wills, and Nathan Bayer.

Friends are encouraged to dress casual and wear their best Bob Segar shirt to a gathering in her honor on Friday, January 12, 2018 from 2:00pm until a Celebration of Her Life at 7:00pm at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185.   Chaplain Jack Vanacker of Great Lakes Caring Hospice will officiate.
