Beatrice (Rohn) Toburen

Obituary of Beatrice Bertha Helena (Rohn) Toburen

Beatrice Bertha Helena Rohn was born on May 21, 1923 in Monroe, Michigan.   She was one of three children born from the union of the late Erving Rohn and the late Martha (Libstroff) Rohn. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church and attended Monroe High School graduating with the Class of 1942.

Beatrice married the love of her life, Winford E. Toburen in June of 1950 at Trinity.   From this union came the birth of four children.   Beatrice worked hard to care for the needs of her family.   More than anything she valued the time she spent with her husband, children, and grandchildren.

Beatrice loved children and in return was loved by everyone.   She was very mild mannered and chose to keep a positive outlook on life.   For many years she was employed in food service for Monroe High School.   Beatrice was affectionately known as the “Cookie Lady” where she relished the opportunity to meet and touch the lives of many young students who passed through.

Beatrice enjoyed staying active and formed many long-lasting relationships with her church family being a lifetime member of Trinity.   She was also very active in community organizations including Winford’s Pipefitters Local, the Monroe Veterans of Foreign Wars, and as a member VFW Ladies Auxiliary.

Beatrice Bertha Helena Toburen, age 94 of Monroe passed away peacefully at 5:21am on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at Wellspring Lutheran Services. In addition to her parents her passing was preceded by her beloved husband: Winford Toburen; a daughter: Susan Castelese; her brother: Leonard Rohn; and her sister: Evelyn Lewis.
