Obituary of Scottie Rice

Scottie Lee Rice August 20, 1965 - January 26, 2013 Scottie Lee Rice was born in Monroe, Michigan on August 20, 1965. He was the son of the late Frank Rice and Patsy (Wilson) Church. Scottie attended Jefferson Schools. Scottie Rice was known for his creative cooking, he would make up all different concoctions that he called "hobo diners". He enjoyed having cookouts with his family and loved being surrounded by his grand babies. Scottie had a passion for art and expressed it through tattooing and also had some tattoos himself. When he wasn't with his family or working, one of his past time activities was planting flowers. Scottie Lee Rice, age 47, of Monroe passed away at 11:24am on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at home. In addition to his father his passing was preceded by a son: Brandon Moore. To cherish his memory he leaves his mother: Patsy Church; four daughters: Amber Rice, Crystal Moore, Delisa Rice, and Jessica Rice; one brother: Frank Rice; two sisters: Delisa (Randy) Mack and Tammy (Chris) Drew; and seven grandchildren: Nilleia Hernandez, Alexis Taylor, Serenity Taylor, Brandon Rice, Brandon Johnson, Cadence Moore, and Elijah Butler. Friends may gather from 2:00pm until 8:00pm on Thursday, January 31, 2013 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe St (734) 384-5185. A Celebration of His Life will follow at 7:00pm with Pastor B.J. McDaniel from Frenchtown Missionary Baptist Church officiating. Cremation will follow through Southern Michigan Services. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the family to assist with funeral expenses.
