Obituary of Ila Marilla McCranie

Ila Marilla Vandervoort was born on November 30, 1939 in Carleton, Michigan. She is one of seven children born from the union of the late Fred and late Vee (Romine) Vandervoort.

Ila married the love of her life Raymond McCranie on December 28, 1955. From this union came the birth of four sons and one daughter. Ila helped to support her family through employment with Wellington Industries working as a press operator for over fifteen years. She worked hard to care for her family, taking retirement in 2005.

Ila was very active in her younger years. She enjoyed square dancing and making ceramics. Ila stayed busy tending to her garden, canning many of the vegetables she harvested through the season. She loved nothing more than the time she spent with her family. She always told her loved ones, “Love you bunches and bunches.”

Ila Marilla McCranie, age 77 of Monroe passed away at 6:30pm on Sunday, October 8, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. In addition to her parents, her passing is preceded by a son: Ray Lee McCranie; and one granddaughter: Stephanie Brown.

To cherish her memory, Ila leaves her loving husband of sixty-one years: Raymond McCranie of Monroe; three sons: Wayne Lee McCranie, Mark Douglas McCranie and Fred Benjamin McCranie; one daughter: Diane Goetz; five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren with one on the way.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street, Monroe (734)384-5185. Friends may gather on Sunday, October 22, 2017 at 1:00pm for a Graveside Service at Port Creek Evergreen Cemetery in Flat Rock.
