Obituary of Florence Theresa Smith
Florence Theresa Osticco was born on April 24, 1936 in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. She was born from the union of Nick and Mary (Mickiewicz) Osticco. Florence married the love of her life, Floyd Ervin Smith and started a family of their own. Together, they raised seven children and watched their family continuously grow: gracing them with many Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.
Florence went on to continue her education by attending college and receiving her Associate Degree. She worked for seventeen years as a travel coordinator at the Frenchtown Senior Center in Monroe.
There is nothing Florence loved more than spending time with her family. She took pride in watching her grandkids play their sports. For fun, she enjoyed going to the casino to try and “win big” on the slot machines. She often went on trips with the Senior Center taking her as far as Mackinaw and even Cleveland multiple times to watch her beloved Tigers play. She was an avid sports fan enjoying watching all kinds including the Tigers, Lions and even NASCAR. To end a busy day, Florence enjoyed having a glass of her favorite wine.
Florence Theresa Smith, age 81 of Monroe, passed away at 10:45 PM on October 4, 2017 at Promedica Monroe Skilled Care and Rehab. She is preceded in death by her husband Floyd Ervin Smith; her son Floyd (Skipper) Smith, and her parents: Nicholas and Mary Osticco.
