Obituary of Charles Mackey

Please share a memory of Charles to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Charles Earl Mackey was born in Monroe, Michigan on April 27, 1959. He was the son of William H. Mackey and Verna (Ingle) Mackey. He married the love of his life, the former Merlin Griffin, in 2004. Charles supported his family as a press operator with JCIM. He enjoyed his job very much, never missing a day's work. He was a member of the UAW Local. Charles loved NASCAR, but he especially loved watching Dale Earnhardt. He was also a fan of the University of Michigan sports teams. Charles enjoyed camping with his family and friends. It didn't matter to him how they had to get there, as long as they were together. Charles was a wonderful, supportive, loving husband and step-father. He treated his step-children as if they were his own to the point they sometimes took loving "advantage" of him. He didn't stand a chance of "winning" with a wife and three daughters. Charles was also a good brother to all three of his siblings, though he did love to remind them constantly that he was the baby. Charles Earl Mackey age 53 of Monroe passed away at 8:10am, Tuesday, November 7, 2012 at Mercy Memorial Hospital. His passing was preceded by his parents: William and Verna. To cherish his memory he leaves his beloved wife: Merlin; three step-daughters: Amanda Taylor, Karissa (Mike) Duvall, and Rikki Taylor, all of Monroe; three brothers: Bob Mackey, Jim (Debra) Mackey, and Dave Mackey; and five grandchildren: Michael, Maycie, Ethan, Brookelyn, and Jorden. Friends may gather from 2:00pm until 7:00pm on Friday, November 9, 2012 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street, Monroe, Michigan (734) 384-5185. A Celebration of His Life will follow at 7:00pm. Cremation will follow through Southern Michigan Services in Livonia, Michigan.
