Please share a memory of Rollin to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Rollin Charles Gross was born in Monroe, Michigan on August 25, 1922. He was one of six children born from the union of the late Charles Gross and the late Hilda (Doederlein) Gross. Rollin married the love of his life the former Ruth Stumpmeier, on August 11, 1951. From this union came the birth of two children a daughter: Ronda and a son: Ryan. Rollin took his role as a husband and father very seriously. He was an extremely hard worker, and he supported his family as a self-employed floor covering mechanic for more than 40 years. Rollin was a lifelong Monroe County resident. He was a God-fearing man who received his spiritual nourishment from attending Trinity Lutheran Church, where he was a lifetime member. He loved his children and grandchildren very much. Rollin was active and outgoing. He enjoyed bowling for the Lutheran Bowling League. He was an avid outdoorsman. Rollin loved to hunt, but fishing was his true passion. Rollin relished the opportunity to play Euchre with his family, and since he wasn't always gracious when he lost, his family learned the true meaning of competition. Rollin Charles Gross, age 90 of Monroe, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 25, 2012 at his home. In addition to his parents, his passing was preceded by his beloved wife: Ruth; two sisters: Genevieve Kull and Sally Ruhnke; and three brothers: Donald Gross, Allen Gross, and Charles (Archie) Gross. To cherish his memory he leaves one daughter: Ronda (David) Johnson; one son: Ryan (Denise) Gross; and three grandchildren: Rachel (Jimmy) Chahine, Rebecca Gross, and Kaitlyn Gross.
