Obituary of Carson McDonald

Carson Elmer McDonald was born in Bailey Switch, Kentucky on March 28, 1955. He was one of seven children from the union of the late Pascal Vernon McDonald and the late Rendie (Smith) McDonald. In 1965 the McDonald family moved to Michigan where he would attend Monroe Schools.
Carson married the love of his life the former Sally Kathleen (Evans) Watson on July 14, 1977 at the Monroe County Courthouse. He worked as an End Load Operator for Consolidated Paper Company for five years and BMI Industries for fifteen years taking a medical retirement in 1987.
Carson was a man of God, enjoying the likes of Gospel music, spending time studying the Bible, and worshipping his Lord as a member of True Gospel Missionary Baptist Church. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed making others laugh. He appreciated the outdoors spending time in his garden and enjoyed traveling with his Kathy, visiting Las Vegas, Florida, California and Texas.
Carson looked forward to finding unique treasures at garage sales, auctions and flea markets. He was an avid sports fan, enjoying bowling and watching his favorite teams; the Detroit Tigers and Detroit Lions, with his beloved canine, "Daisy."
Carson Elmer McDonald, age 59, of Monroe was called to his Heavenly Home at 8:10am on Wednesday, October 8, 2014. His loving wife was by his side, and he had been under the care of Mercy Memorial Hospice of Monroe. Carson's passing was preceded by his parents and his brother Paul Edward McDonald.
To cherish his memory he leaves a beloved wife of thirty-seven years: Kathy of Monroe; a son: Carson McDonald Jr.; a stepson: Rick B. (Ling Zhang) Watson; three sisters: Betty Lou Baumia, Helen Louise (Rick) Brown, Naomia "Lee" Poore; one brother: James Edward (Sandy) McDonald; a half-sister: JoAnn McDonald, and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may gather from 3:00pm until 8:00pm on Friday October 10, 2014 at Merkle Funeral Service, South Monroe, at 14567 South Dixie Highway (734)241-7070. He will lie in state from 10:00am until a Celebration of His Life at 11:00am at True Gospel Missionary Baptist Church, 3212 East Dunbar Road with the Reverend John Bullard pastor of the church officiating. Procession will follow to Roselawn Memorial Park in LaSalle, for burial.
