Josephine Marie Schock was born in Carroll County, Indiana on March 4, 1916. She was born from the union of the late Ray and Florence (Sagers) Schock.
She married Edward Mullendore on November 10, 1935. The young couple moved to the Monroe area in 1937 to find work. From this union would come the birth of five children. Edward passed away in 1966. She would later meet the love of her life, William D. Ohr. They were joined in marriage on October 4, 1975 at Calvary United Methodist Church. He passed away on November 4, 2010.
Josephine was a homemaker to her family, but also worked as a domestic helper for many other families retiring in 1978. Josephine enjoyed sewing and she was a skilled seamstress. Many of her creations became cherished gifts to her family and friends.
Josephine received her spiritual nourishment as a member of Calvary United Methodist Church. She was extremely involved in many aspects of ministry through the church. Josephine was a member of Church Women United, Naomi Women's Circle, United Methodist Womens, and she sang in the choir for more than twenty-five years.
Josephine was especially fond of her grandchildren, and she loved spending time with them. She valued healthy eating, vitamins, and herbs and credited them with her longevity.
Josephine Marie Ohr, age 98 of Monroe passed away; Friday, July 18 2014 at the Alice Lorraine Care Center under the care of Mercy Memorial Hospice. In addition to her parents and both spouses, her passing was preceded by an infant daughter: Julia; and a son: Warren.
To cherish her memory Josephine leaves three sons: Frederick W. (Phyllis) Mullendore of Monroe, Stanley "Mike" (Kathy) Mullendore of Lincoln Park, and David L. (Barbara) Mullendore of Monroe; a sister: Gene Ayers of Oklahoma; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren.
Friends may gather from 2:00-8:00pm on Sunday, July 20, 2014 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe (734) 384-5185. A Celebration of Her Life will take place at 2:00pm on Monday, July 21, 2014 also at Merkle's with Pastor William Kreichbaum officiating. A graveside service will take place at 2:00pm on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at the Masonic Cemetery in Delphi, Indiana.
