Obituary of Nathan Douglas Barton
Nathan Douglas Barton Sr. was born in Monroe on May 24, 1954. He was born from the union of the late Marvin Dean Barton Sr. and the late Ethel (Lambert) Barton. Nathan was a graduate of Jefferson High School.
Nathan supported his family by working as a construction superintendent and safety inspector.
Nathan enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid golfer and hunter. He particularly enjoyed golfing and hunting with his two sons. He is also remembered for being a jokester and enjoyed watching several TV programs including Blue Bloods and evangelist Andrew Wommack. Nathan was a religious man who frequently read the Bible. He also enjoyed traveling down south and out west.
Nathan Douglas Barton Sr., age 63 passed away on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at Harper Hospital. His passing was preceded by his parents.
To cherish his memory, Nathan leaves two sons: Justin Barton and Nathan Barton Jr.; three sisters Barbara Tidwell of Summerville, South Carolina, Linda Welber of Sarasota, Florida and Rebecca Lambert of Bradenton, Florida; many friends and relatives; and his canine companions “Sammy” and “Buddy”.
A private family gathering was held on Sunday, July 2, 2017 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185.
