Obituary of Robert James Wallin
Robert “Bob” James Wallin was born on February 3, 1958 in Detroit, Michigan. He is one of three children born from the union of Robert Henry and Elizabeth Jane (Gaynier) Wallin. Robert attended Catholic Central High School graduating with the Class of 1976. After high school, he continued his education at the University of Michigan with a business focus.
Bob was a hard worker and had a passion for photography. He managed the Meijer Photo Department for several years and was a long-time photographer at The Palace of Auburn Hills; photographing many stars at professional sports games and concerts. For many years, Bob owned his own photography business, first opening in Oakland County and grew for many years. Photography was his life passion despite being diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. Bob also had a special love for sports as a spectator. He was an expert on stats with the Tigers, Lions, U of M football, the Red Wings and English soccer. He watched all the games and always called his sister Michele when there was a great play.
Bob loved listening to music. He had a wide variety of favorites, especially Jeff Beck. Bob was a part of the Jeff Beck Fan Club and other social media outlets. He was a regular attendee of a Parkinson support Group "Shakin' not Stirred" in Monroe.
Robert James Wallin, age 59 of Monroe, passed away at 10:05pm on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at home. In addition to his parents, his passing was preceded by his brother: Barry Wallin; and his beloved canine companion: Syd.
To cherish his memory, Robert leaves his sister: Michele (Dennis) St. Peter of Flat Rock; his children: Roger Wallin of Madison Heights, Derek Wallin of Highland, and stepchildren: Renee, Jeffrey and Lisa.
Friends may gather from 10:00am to 1:00pm on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at Merkle Funeral Service, North Monroe: 2442 North Monroe Street Monroe, Michigan (734)384-5185. A Celebration of His Life will follow at 1:00pm also at Merkle’s with Pastor Tim Iocoangeli of Monroe Missionary Baptist Church officiating.
