Obituary of Erna Jagutis
Erna Marija Jagutis was born in Lithuania on May 12, 1933. She was the oldest of five children born from the union of the late Martin Jagutis and the late Greta (Kaitinis) Jagutis. The Jagutis family came to America though Ellis Island in 1951. They soon after moved to Monroe sponsored by Trinity Lutheran Church.
Erna married Ernie Grebs and the couple shared in the birth of two sons: Eric and Glen. They made their home in California for many years. Erna cared for the needs of her family as a homemaker. She was known for her easy-going nature. Erna wasn’t much for going out and instead enjoyed the comfort of her own home. In 2013, Erna moved back to Monroe to be near family, making her home with her sister: Milda.
Erna Marija Jagutis, age 84, of Monroe passed away unexpectedly at 8:45pm on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at the Medilodge of Monroe where she had been a resident for several weeks. In addition to her parents, her passing was preceded by her former husband: Ernie Grebs.
To cherish her memory, Erna leaves her two sons: Eric Grebs of Carlstad, California and Glen Grebs of Riverside, California; three sisters: Ruth (Arthur) Noetzel of Chicago, Janina Harwardt of Monroe and Milda Strimbel of Monroe; one brother: John (Mary) Jagutis of Monroe; and many nieces and nephews.
No public services are planned and a private memorial service has been scheduled. Inurnment will take place at Roselawn Memorial Park in LaSalle. Merkle Funeral Service; South Monroe 14567 South Dixie Highway (734) 241-7070 has been entrusted to with her arrangements.
