Doyle M. Williams age 81 of LaSalle passed away unexpectedly at 3:40am on Monday, August 17, 2009 at Spectrum Healthcare Butterworth Facility in Grand Rapids, Michigan after a fall.
Doyle was born on December 2, 1927 in Monroe, Michigan to Dewey Williams and Bertha (Roark) Williams. He attended Monroe High School before enlisting and serving in the United States Navy during 1945. Doyle was honorably discharged for medical reasons.
Doyle married Dolores DuVall on June 25, 1949 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Temperance, Michigan.
For more than 35 years Doyle was employed by the Ford Motor Company. He worked as an inspector before retiring in 1985. Doyle also worked for the UAW Local 387 in Woodhaven and Local 723 in Monroe as a Financial Secretary for many years. He spent 17 years at the Monroe County Road Commission serving as a Commissioner.
In his free time Doyle enjoyed golfing and traveling. He enjoyed visiting casinos and spending time with his family and friends. He also kept a neat yard and garden.
He is survived by his wife: Dolores of LaSalle; three sons: Brian (Shirley) Williams of Monroe, Reid (Allison) Williams of Bellevue, Washington, and Scott (Sharon) Williams of Harrison, Michigan; a daughter: Cynthia (Gary) Muraca of Victor, Idaho; two sisters-in-law: Wilma Williams of LaSalle and Alberta Williams of Bedford; nine grandchildren: Deanna M. Liparato, Kristina (Mike) Findley, Doyle W. (Johanna) Williams, Angela (Gabriel) Salenbien, Samantha Williams, Adam (Sarah) Williams, Eric Williams, Katherine Williams, and Kelli Muraca; and eight great grandchildren. Doyle's passing was preceded by his parents; three brothers: Thorston Williams, Alfred Williams, and George Williams; a sister: Virginia Westin; and a granddaughter: Sheri Williams.
Friends may gather from 5:00pm until 8:00pm, Wednesday, August 19, 2009 and from 12:00pm until a Celebration of His Life at 1:00pm, Thursday, August 20, 2009 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185. Pastor Jeffrey Walsh of Trinity Lutheran Church will officiate. Procession will follow to Roselawn Memorial Park in LaSalle for burial.
