Obituary of Walter Rounsifer Jr
Walter Rounsifer Jr. was born in Sumpter, Michigan on Monday, December 27, 1926. He was born from the union of Walter and Eleanor (Caton) Rounsifer. Walter enlisted in the United States Coast Guard and served his country honorably from Nov 27, 1944 to May 11, 1946 and obtained the rank of Seaman, First Class (Radarman).
Walter married the love of his life, Christine Lynn Kwiatkowski on June 7, 1977. For several years, Walter worked hard as a Truck Driver for various companies including Appache and Keyline, finally taking retirement in 1992.
Walter enjoyed his exercise walking the mall daily, sometimes even twice a day. He was always first to the local garage sales to find the best bargain. Walter would hunt for vintage antiques that he could add to his collection. He had many friends and was especially close with his grandson that’s actively serving in the military.
Walter Rounsifer Jr, age 90 of Monroe passed away at 10:30am on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at home. In addition to the passing of his parents, he was preceded by his sisters: Mary Ann Fischer, Violet Giron and Doris Daroci.
To cherish his memory, he leaves a beloved wife of thirty years: Christine Lynn Rounsifer; his four children: William Rounsifer of Fort Myers, Florida, Walter Rounsifer II of Louisville, Kentucky, Diane Taylor of Manchester and Darlene Hicks of Willis; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Merkle Funeral Service, North Monroe; 2442 North Monroe Street Monroe (734)384-5185. He will be laid to rest at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan.
