Obituary of Anna Alice Basile

Anna Alice (Siterlet) Basile was born on January 29, 1926 in Detroit, Michigan. She was raised in Monroe with thirteen siblings the daughter of Alfred Siterlet and Bertha (Gheldof) Siterlet. Anna was an extremely sweet woman. She knew no enemies and had a passion for serving others. For many years she worked as a waitress. Anna was employed by Pete’s Eatmore Lunch, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1138, and The Knights of Columbus over the years where she was well-loved by her customers. She married Pat J. Basile on March 21, 1976 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Anna was a loving wife who was extremely devoted to the needs of her husband. In her younger years, Anna enjoyed gardening and planting and maintaining her beautiful flowers. She could be counted on for canning and wonderful baked goods. Among her favorite dishes was her famous Belgian Honey Bread, Zutacuka. Although, Anna was quiet, she often opened her home to hosting gatherings with friends and the guests feasted on her delicious spaghetti dinners. Anna was an avid bowler. She adored her little dog: Gidget. The two regularly loved to snuggle up in front of the television to watch their favorite shows, especially figure skating. Later in life, Anna became a resident of Fountain View in Monroe. Her pleasant personality lent her quickly to be a favorite patient to many on the staff. Anna Alice Basile, age 91, of Monroe passed away at 1:30pm on Thursday, April 13, 2017 at Fountain View of Monroe. In addition to her parents, her passing is preceded by; nine brothers: Alfred, Alfred, Joseph, August, George, Charles, Julius, Donald and Francis; four sisters: Jennie Bost, Florence Roof, Theresa Werstein and Mary Wohlfiel. To cherish her memory, Anna leaves her husband: Pat J. Basile; three children: Mary Ann (James E.) Bush of Shelby Township, James A. (Kathy Baisch) Boudrie of Monroe, and Sherry Boudrie (Tom) Shiflet of Monroe; nine grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Friends may gather on Monday, April 17, 2017 from 2:00pm until 8:00pm at Merkle Funeral Service; 2442 North Monroe Street (734)384-5185. A Celebration of Her Life will be held on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at 11:00am also at Merkle’s with Pastor Mike Gilbert of Brookstone Christian Academy officiating.
