Gordon Earle Magoon September 21, 1943 - May 26, 2012 Gordon Earle Magoon was born in Cohasset, Massachusetts on September 21, 1943. He was the son of the late Charles and Doris (Hodgdon) Magoon. He attended Jefferson High School. He married the love of his life the former Dorothy Stoltz on October 1, 1966 in Monroe. Gordon worked for Dana in Trenton for many years prior to working ten years as a Die Setter with Crescive Tool and Die in Milan retiring in 2005. Gordon had a passion for serving others and was an active member of the Frenchtown Township Fire Department for nineteen years achieving the rank of Captain before retiring in 1991. Since 1996 he had operated White Feather Distribution, www.whitefeatherbirdproducts.com, an exotic bird products and food line. Gordon cherished his family. He always took the opportunity to talk with them and participated frequently with extra-curricular activities. As a young man he enjoyed hunting and fishing raising the children with a fishing pole in their hand. He had a very special relationship with his grandchildren whom idolized him. Gordon had a great sense of humor and loved practical jokes. Gordon Earle Magoon age 68 of Newport passed away on Saturday, May 26, 2012 at home. In addition to his parents his passing was preceded by four brothers: Charles Jr., Herbert, Merrill, and Calvin Magoon; and one grandson: Ronald. To cherish his memory he leaves a beloved wife of more than forty-five years: Dorothy "Dottie" of Newport; four children: Patrick (Joni) Magoon of South Rockwood, Michael Magoon of Riverview, Tammy Magoon of Monroe, and Karen (Bruce) Sarnowski of Temperance; three brothers: Robert Magoon of Florida, George (Maria) Magoon of New Jersey, and Edward (Jean) Magoon of California; two sisters: Sharon Permender of New Hampshire and Greta (Paul) Doute of Lincoln Park; one half-sister: Eldora (Luther) Farris of Monroe; two sisters-in-law: Betty Magoon of New Hampshire and Marilyn Magoon of Colorado; seven grandchildren: Amanda Magoon, David Sarnowski, Daniel Sarnowski, Gordon Magoon, Samantha Magoon, Sidney Magoon, and Dylan Magoon. Friends may gather from 4:00-7:00pm, Thursday, May 31, 2012 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185. A Celebration of His Life will take place at 7:00pm with friends and family sharing. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Magoon Family.
