Obituary of Mary Gladys Flynn
Mary Gladys Martin was born on June 10, 1938 in Chillicothe, Ohio. She was the daughter of Clarence Martin and Maysel (Woodruff) Martin. She attended school in Hamilton, Ohio.
Mary attended schooling in Ohio and became a Mixologist. She would use her education to serve for many years in restaurants and bars as a Bartender working at several posh, high end establishments. Locally, she had been employed by the Silver Fox and Willy’s Lounge. Mary also would work for several years at the One Hour Martinizing.
As a young woman, Mary had enjoyed sewing. Later in life she enjoyed the a little travel, and preferred the sand between her toes of a beach or visiting Mexico. Mary often liked to chill to the Blues. Although, she could be loving and nurturing when needed; Mary was known quite well to carry a conversation and more likely an argument. She enjoyed taking her grandson, Devin to his therapeutic horseback riding.
Mary Gladys Flynn, age 78, of Monroe passed away at 6:25pm on Thursday, March 22, 2017 at Promedica Monroe Regional Hospital. She had been under the care of Promedica Monroe Regional Hospital. Her passing was preceded by both of her parents; one half-brother: Richard Martin; and one half-sister: Pamela Martin.
To cherish her memory, Mary leaves five beloved children: Vickie Bryant of Monroe, Henry (Rhonda) Beda of Apache Junction, Arizona, Ted (Deb) Flynn of Monticello, Kentucky, Tammy Gibson of Monroe, and Traci Flynn of Monroe; one sister: Joyce Nistler of Westchester, Ohio; five half-siblings: Irwin Mercer Jr. of Hamilton, Ohio, James Martin of Chillicothe, Ohio, Alice Martin of Chillicothe, Ohio, and Sheila Harper of Chillicothe, Ohio; thirteen grandchildren; and sixteen great grandchildren.
Friends may gather on Saturday, April 1, 2017 from 12:00pm until a Celebration of Her Life at 1:00pm at the Stewart Road Church of God, 1199 Stewart Road. Dr. Joseph Byrd pastor of the church will officiate. Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185 has been entrusted with her arrangements.
