Doris Marie Farner was born on February 4, 1931 in Monroe, Michigan the daughter of George Calvin Farner and Leona (Sanders) Farner. She graduated in 1948 from Monroe High School. In January, 1949 Doris married Clarence Robert Nisley Jr., who passed away in 1962. For the past twenty-one years Doris shared her life with Walter Barron. She is also survived by her children: Dorothy (Larry) Moretti of Shell Beach, CA; Deb Chase of San Marcos, TX; Robert (Mary Ann) of Ypsilanti; and Gregory (Linda) of Gaylord; and her special daughters: Jeannette Barron; Phyliss (Bruce) Johnson; and Geri Kay Cochis; and sisters: Betty (Gus) Smith; June (Pat) Lewis and Nancy (Robert) Diehl; and many nieces and nephews.. Doris loved her family dearly, and took the responsibility of raising and providing for them. She began working for the La-Z-Boy Chair Company in 1968. Doris was employed as a professional seamstress. Her career spanned 20 years, working as a line sewer, foreman, and Head Seamstress in the Experimental Department before retiring in 1988. Doris was a lifelong learner, and enjoyed sharing her knowledge with those around her. She always said that her pride and joy were her grandchildren: Brian, Jonathon, Floyd, Heather, Jason, Robin, and Johnny, and seven great grandchildren. She enjoyed crafts and was well known for her yo-yo quilts and pillows (a creation that required 5832 yo-yo's to complete), that were given to her children, grandchildren, family and friends. When she wasn't working on her crafts she could be found at the nearest garage sale. Doris was a memorable person who touched the lives of all that knew her.
