Obituary of Kofi A. Antwih
Kofi A Antwih, 64, of Monroe, MI went to be with the Lord March 14, 2017, at the Michigan Medicine ICU surrounded by his family.
He was born August 11, 1952, in Nkwantanang Ghana, West Africa, the son of late Yaw and Afia Antwih. He was the third of 7 siblings. On May 17th God united him in holy matrimony with his wife Loretta Moody Antwih.
He graduated from Presbyterian High School in 1969; Telecommunication/Electronics Engineering, Engineering Science, Mathematics, Radio Lines Transmission A & B, and Elementary Telecommunication Engineering, City & Guilds of London Institute of Technology in 1975; Electrical/Electronics – South West Community College. Inglewood, CA in 1978; Advance Electrical, Electronics, Physical Dimensional, Microwave Measurements and Calibration Courses. USAF. Technical Training Center. Lowry AFB, Denver, CO in 1982; Electronics Technology – Albany Technical Institute, Albany, GA. Albany Junior College, Albany GA in 1983; Radiological Activity (Radiac) Instrumentation Measurement Calibration course. Treasure Island, CA in 1984; Communication – Electrical/Electronics System Analysis Engineering 1 &2, Gaunter, AFB, Alabama in 1985; Master of Science in Quality Assurance, California State University in 1998 and Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer in 2000.
He served in the United States Marine Corp. as an Electronic Technician from 1978-1979 and a Metrologist from 1980-1985. After his discharge, he was employed by Detroit Edison Fermi 2 Metrology Laboratory as a Metrologist for 29 years.
He is survived by his wife Loretta Antwih of Monroe, MI; daughter Michelle (Mario) Tucker of Monroe, MI; son Michael Antwih of Grand Rapids, MI; daughter Mikwonjilian Antwih of Monroe, MI; daughter Deborah Antwih of Baltimore, MD; son Marvin Antwih of Grand Rapids, MI; grandchildren, Mario and Kennedy Tucker of Monroe, MI; brothers Alfred (Eva) Antwih and Kofi (Mary) Antwih of Monroe, MI; brothers and sister Kwaku Adu, Akosua Dera, Ama Boahemaa of Ghana West Africa; and a host of Uncles, Aunts, Nieces and Nephews. King Kofi was preceded in death by his father and mother Yaw and Afia Antwih; sister and brother Grace Kyerewaa and Yaw Korantwi; daughter Abenaa Nyankowaah; and uncle Kwame.
A service will be held Thursday March 23, 2017 at Merkle Funeral Service South in Monroe, MI. Family hour will be from 10-11 am, Visitation hour will be from 11-12 pm and Service will start at 12pm. The repass will be held at Stewart Road Church of God in Christ in Monroe, MI following the completion of the burial. Burial will take place at Roselawn Cemetery.
