Juanita Bernice Jones was born in Southaven, Michigan on November 23, 1946. She was the oldest of two daughters born from the union of Roscoe C. Jones and Susie A. (Lovejoy) Jones. Juanita attended Belleville High School graduating with the Class of 1965.
Juanita spent most of her life in the Belleville area. She was a devoted member of the First Missionary Baptist Church in Belleville. Juanita loved to attend worship and often sang in the church choir. Even when she wasn’t in worship she enjoyed singing gospel music and it always brought joy to her heart and a smile to her face. Among her favorites was Amazing Grace.
Juanita loved the time that she shared with her family. She was very fond of her nieces and nephews, and in 2002, Juanita moved to Monroe to be closer to them.
Juanita Bernie Jones, age 70, of Monroe formerly of Belleville passed away at 3:42pm on Thursday, February 23, 2017 at Select Specialty Hospital within Henry Ford Hospital in Wyandotte. Her passing was preceded by both of her parents and a nephew: Alfred Darnell Overstreet.
To cherish her memory, Juanita leaves a sister and brother-in-law: Dana and Reverend Alfred Overstreet of Monroe; a niece: Felishia “Breezy” Overstreet of Monroe; a nephew: Michael James Overstreet of Atlanta, Georgia; a great niece: Rae’Lyn Overstreet of Monroe; and a great nephew: Rayvon Reed of Monroe.
Friends may gather for a Homegoing Memorial Service at 12:00pm on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at Merkle Funeral Service; South Monroe, 14567 South Dixie Highway (734) 241-7070. Larry Aaron of Faith Baptist Church will officiate.
