Obituary of Tobi Deann Young

Tobi Deann Strimbel was born in Monroe, Michigan on February 20, 1963. She was the daughter of Robert Strimbel and Frances (Hance) Strimbel. She attended Monroe Schools and graduated with the Class of 1981. She continued her education at the Michigan College of Beauty earning her license in Cosmetology. Tobi married James Grove and together the couple would share in the birth of a daughter: Chelsea. For many years, Tobie would work as a beautician while also caring for the needs of her family as a homemaker. She would marry, Russell Young, on November 12, 2010 in Toledo, Ohio. Tobi was always a pleasure to be around and a ton of fun. She had an infectious laugh and a warm smile. She was outgoing and adventurous, enjoying the time she spent whether traveling or camping, visiting the casinos, shopping, eating out, or attending concerts. The relationship that Tobi truly cherished the most was that with her only grandchild: Brooklyn, whom she loved to spoil. Tobi loved music and she was an avid, Blake Shelton fan. Her family joked that it was borderline obsessive. She also had an infatuation with Dragonflies proud to show off several as body art. Tobi Deann Young, age 53, of Monroe passed away at home unexpectedly on Sunday, February 12, 2017. Her passing was preceded by her mother: Frances Strimbel; her maternal grandparents: Evaleeka and David Hance; her paternal grandparents: William and Edna Strimbel Sr., and her husband: Russell who passed on September 27, 2014. To cherish her memory she leaves one daughter: Chelsea Grove (Derrick Masserant) of Monroe; her father: Robert Strimbel of Monroe; one brother: Robert G. (Mary Lu) Strimbel Jr. of Carleton; two sisters: Tonya Quatro of Monroe and Tara (Dino) Diterlizzi of Ottawa Lake; seven nieces and nephews, three great nieces and nephews; and her granddaughter: Brooklyn Masserant Friends may gather from 2:00pm until 7:00pm on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185. A Celebration of Her Life will follow at 7:00pm also at Merkle’s. Private burial will take place at Roselawn Memorial Park in LaSalle at a later date.
