Leslie "Louis" Miller, Jr.
October 10, 1927 - April 21, 2012
Leslie Louis Miller, Jr. was born in River Rouge on October 10, 1927. He was the son of the late Leslie Miller, Sr. and Gertrude Polaski. He married the love of his life, Helen Kuchta and from this union came the birth of three children.
Louis was a member of Knights of Columbus, Robert Jones Council, and the Southwest Athletic Club. He was a God-fearing man, a wonderful father, and an intelligent person. Louis owned several gas stations in the downriver area, as well as owning a landscaping company which sold Christmas trees. Deer hunting was Louis' passion, as well as gardening. He canned, pickled, and made jams from his harvests. Louis was a talented wood worker, and he loved to create things. He was a big NASCAR fan. Louis loved people and always gave to anyone at need. He loved to make people smile.
Leslie Louis Miller, Jr., age 84 of Monroe, passed away Saturday, April 21, 2012 at 8:15 pm at home. In addition to his parents, Louis' passing was preceded by two sisters: Gertrude Brundricks and Rita Magyar; and two brothers: Donald Miller and Richard Miller.
To cherish his memory, Louis leaves behind his wife: Helen Miller; two sons: Louis (Maria) Miller and Terry (Karen) Miller; a daughter: Laurie (Rick) Ramey; a sister: JoAnne (Ed) Tanner; seven grandchildren: Jeff, Jeremy, Kevin, Stacey, Chrissy, Chaz, and Chentel; and nine great-grandchildren.
Friends may gather from 3:00pm until 8:00pm, Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734)384-5185. A Celebration of His Life will take place on Thursday, April 26, 2012 at 10:00am at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 2970 W. Labo Road, Carleton. Procession will follow to Michigan Memorial Park in Flat Rock.
