Obituary of Janet Lynn Wolard

Janet Lynn Broman was born on January 30, 1953 in Petoskey, Michigan. She was one of four children born from the union of the late Robert Lee Broman and the late Dorothy Jean (Coveyou) Broman. Janet attended St. Mary’s Academy graduating with the Class of 1972. She would continue her studies at Wayne State University obtaining an Associate of Science Degree in Nutrition. She married, Jimmy Wolard in October of 1979. For more than thirty years she worked as a Certified Dietary Manager. She was employed in the Toledo area working for Sunbridge and Brookhaven among others in long-term care. The last five years she served the Ohio Presbyterian Retirement Services before taking a medical retirement in 2014. Even after retirement, Janet worked in food service for Mi-Lo’s Tea, setting up service booths at various retailers. Janet was described by her own children and grandchildren as being “The Best Mom and Nana ever”. She was strong and independent twice surviving cancer, and proudly raised her two children. Janet loved to cook, bake, and sew. She was a mother to many and even while in poor health she thought enough to share her creations with others. She happily shared her home with fur babies. Janet Lynn Wolard, age 64, of Toledo formerly of Luna Pier passed away on Friday, February 3, 2017 under the care of Heartland Hospice. In addition to her parents her passing was preceded by her former husband: Jimmy Wolard. To cherish her memory, Janet leaves her two beloved children: Amanda Lynn (Dee Bishop) Wolard of Toledo, Ohio and James “Jim” Robert (Sheri Burdick) of Luna Pier; three brothers: William (Mari) Broman of LaSalle, Thomas (Kathy) Broman of Maybee, and Michael (Cathy) of Monroe; two grandchildren: Courtney Hanson and Brittney Hanson; her best friends: Amy Widner, Shannon Kellogg and Cyndy Raymo; several nieces and nephews; and her three special feline friends: Jezzy, Miles and Stella. Friends may gather on Monday, February 6, 2017 from 4:00pm until 8:00pm at Merkle Funeral Service; 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185. Funeral Services will take place on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at 11:00am also at Merkle’s. Memorials in lieu of flowers are suggested to the family to assist with funeral services.
