Obituary of Beatrice Virginia Boerboom

Beatrice Virginia Kneller was born on November 12, 1917 in Columbia City, Indiana. She was one of twelve children born from the union of the late Charles and the late Bessie (Seivers) Kneller. On March 29, 1936, Beatrice married the love of her life, the late George Boerboom Sr. at the Parsonage of Trinity Lutheran Church. For many years, Beatrice helped to run the family farm in addition to caring for her four children. She spent a great deal of time in the kitchen baking bread and canning various foods. Later in life she took employment for pay working at the Federal’s Department Store for seventeen years until their closing. She would then spend an additional twelve years at the Snow-White Laundry Center before finally deciding to retire. A devoted member of Trinity Lutheran Church for more than eighty-two years, Beatrice also had served as a 4-H teacher. She enjoyed porcelain doll making a hobby she shared with daughter-in-law: Gail. She loved her two grand-dogs, but more than anything cherished her many grandchildren. Beatrice Virginia Boerboom, age 99, of Monroe, passed away peacefully on Friday; January 27, 2017 at Wellsprings Lutheran Services. In addition to her parents and her spouse of fifty-nine years: George Sr., her passing was preceded by three sisters: Rosella, Marie, Georgia; seven brothers: Carl, Harold, Ralph, Lloyd, Charles, Walter, Floyd; daughters-in-law: Linda, Gail, and Betty; sons-in-law: James and William; and great-grandson: Jakup MacMullin To cherish her memory, Beatrice leaves four children: Donna Morris-Shields of Monroe, Jon (Mary Lou) Boerboom Sr. of Hudson, Carol Bergmooser of Monroe, and George Boerboom Jr. of Monroe; sister: Margaret (Jack) Fox of Fort Wayne, IN; grandchildren: Susan Morris, Jon Boerboom Jr, Sharon (David) Janssen, Sandra (David) Boucher, Steve Turay, Steve Morris, Kriste (Daryl) Poley, Brian (Juan) Bergmooser, Nicole (Chad) Horr, Stacy (Jerry) Oley, Beth (Al) Cruz; eighteen great grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Friends may gather from 2:00-8:00pm on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185. She will Lie in State on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 from 10:00am until funeral services at 11:00am at Trinity Lutheran Church, 323 Scott Street. Reverend Jeffrey Heimsoth pastor of the church will officiate and procession will follow to Roselawn in LaSalle for burial.
