Obituary of Irene Ann Yinger
Irene Ann Knapp was born on August 4, 1933 in Monroe, Michigan. She was the daughter of the late Louie Knapp and the late Florence (Cyr) Knapp. Irene attended St. Mary’s Academy and graduated with the Class of 1951.
She married the love of her life, the late David Yinger on October 12, 1957 at St. Mary’s Parish in Monroe. From this union came the birth of two sons. Irene was a homemaker and painstakingly looked after the needs of her husband, boys, and home.
Although, she was easy-going, she was honest and outspoken. Irene was a loving and caring mother and made sure that family was well taken care of. She was funny with a quick wit and cleverness that made her a joy to be around.
Irene loved to visit the casino often traveling to Vegas over the years, enjoyed pulling tabs at the American Legion, as well as playing bingo with her lifelong friend Marilyn Burgard.
In 1996, Irene and David moved to Lake Havasu, Arizona where they would enjoy retirement. She was a member of Our Lady of the Lake in Lake Havasu and had received her spiritual nourishment locally from Our Lady of Mount Caramel and St. Joseph Church.
Irene Ann Yinger, age 83, passed away on Friday, January 27, 2017. In addition to her parents her passing was preceded by her husband of fifty-nine years: David on October 31, 2016.
To cherish her memory, Irene leaves her children: David (Lynda) Yinger of Riga Township, Michigan and John (Samantha) Yinger of Temperance; one brother: Louie (Betty) Knapp of LaSalle; one sister: Shirley “Simone” Miller of Beaverton, Oregon; seven grandchildren: Corey David Yinger, Brooke Ann Yinger (Zach Chesnutwood), Dustin Tipping, John Richard David Yinger, Chad Michael Bomia, Brandon Nathaniel Bomia and Alyssa Leigh (Andrew) Morey; and six great grandchildren.
Friends may gather on Sunday, January 29, 2017 from 2:00pm until 8:00pm at Merkle Funeral Service, South Monroe; 14567 South Dixie Highway (734) 241-7070. She will Lie In State from 10:00am until the Mass of the Resurrection at 11:00am on Monday, January 30, 2017 at St. Mary’s Catholic Parish, 127 North Monroe Street with Father David Burgard officiating. Procession will follow to Roselawn Memorial Park in LaSalle for burial.
