Obituary of Michael Anthony Ortiz

Michael Anthony Ortiz was born in Toledo, Ohio on July 25, 1967. He was one of four sons born from the union of the late Damas “John” Ortiz and Maria (Flores) Ortiz Allor. Michael attended Erie Mason High School graduating with the Class of 1985. He enjoyed working with his hands and for many years had been in the construction industry. Michael was a jack of all trades performing roofing, remodeling, and cement work. For a time, he had been employed by Sam Brina Construction. Michael also enjoyed working in the yard. He painstakingly performed tasks to make sure that his landscapes looked just right. Michael was a self-professed lady’s man. He enjoyed dressing up and always looked like a million bucks. He loved to clean his F-150, “Big Red” so much that family thought he would wash the paint right off of it. Michael had a great sense of humor. He loved to laugh and make others laugh. He was known for his favorite saying “Eeyah”, which Rapper Nelly later made famous. While growing up, Michael learned the skills to be an expert bar-b-que-r. He also was a talented artist and loved listening to music and always extremely loud. Michael Anthony Ortiz, age 49, of Monroe passed away unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, January 18, 2017. His passing was preceded by his father in 2012. To cherish his memory he leaves three daughters: Samantha Ortiz (Samuel Howard) of Monroe, Sabrina (Adam) Garza of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Lisa Gonzales (Stephen Howard) of Monroe; four stepsons; his mother: Maria Allor of Erie; three brothers: John Anthony Ortiz of Monroe, Frank (Rashell) Ortiz of LaSalle, and Alex Ortiz of Erie; nine grandchildren: Donavan, Kayliece, and Vanessa Howard, Kyanna, Erica, and Stephen Howard Jr., and Hailee, Amerlee, and Elaina Garza; and nine step grandchildren. Friends may gather from 3:00pm until 5:00pm on Monday, January 23, 2017 at Merkle Funeral Service, 9156 Summit Street in Erie (734) 848-5185. A Funeral Service will follow at 5:00pm with Deacon Ken Trabbic of St. Joseph Church in Erie officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to assist with funeral services.
