Obituary of Genevieve Mikels

Genevieve M. Mikels, 91, died Tuesday, September 5, 2006 in Erie, Michigan, at
the home of her son, Paul and daughter-in-law, Lynn, with whom she had been
living.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Brian S. Merkle, L.F.D., through
the Covenant Cremation and Funeral Society.
A memorial service was held at the Presbyterian Church in Petersburg, MI, on
Sunday, September 10,2006, with the Rev. E. Jack Lemon presiding.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 24, 2006, at 3 p.m., at
Aldersgate Free Methodist Church in Indianapolis, IN, comer of21 st and Post
Road. Rev. Wayne E. Neely will preside at that service. Burial will take place in
Spraytown, IN.
Genevieve was born on October 2, 1914 in Sumner, IL, the daughter of Dr. Carl
M. and Clara G. (Sanders) Case. She was married to Rev. Russell O. Mikels on
December 31, 1935 in Bloomington, IN. She was a homemaker, a member of the
Free Methodist Church in Bloomington, IN, and attended the Monroe Senior
Citizens Center. She enjoyed reading, especially the Bible and other religious
books, and working word search puzzles. She had taught Sunday School, and
played the piano for church services. She especially loved children, and taught in
a nursery school while living in Seattle, W A.
She was preceded in death by her husband, an infant daughter, Phyllis Kay, and
three brothers, Paul, Forest and John. Surviving are a son, Paul (Lynn) Mikels of
Erie; a daughter, Carol Ann Deer of Indianapolis; four sisters, Naurine Bennett of
Palm Desert, CA, Daisy Lumsden of Sterling Heights, Catherine LeGout of
Sumner, IL, and Mary French of Port Angeles, WA; four grandchildren; eight
great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
