"Everett" Thompson
January 27 - April 14, 2012
"Everett" Thompson was born into earthly life on January 27 many years ago in Grundy, Virginia. He was the son of the late James Thompson and the late Verna (Sullivan) Thompson. He attended Southwestern High School in Detroit. In 1972, Everett married the love of his life the former Rose Zammit in Detroit, Michigan. From this union came the birth of two daughters.
Everett worked hard and would support his family as an Overhead Crane Operator and Electrical Substation Operator while employed as McLouth Steel. He took a medical retirement in 1993.
Everett often read the Bible. He accessed scripture from his phone, i-pod, or computer to continually grow closer to his Lord. He had attended First Wesleyan Church.
Everett was a member of the Monroe Lodge 27 Free and Accepted Masons. He enjoyed staying physically fit. One of his favorite pastimes was working out and was a frequent fixture at Anytime Fitness. He loved to walk and ride his bike. Everett enjoyed helping others. His pride and joy were his three grandchildren, and they were the light of his life. He enjoyed attending local mixed martial arts events.
Everett Thompson of Monroe, Michigan passed from this world into eternal glory at Oakwood Southshore Medical Center in Trenton on Saturday, April 14, 2012. Everett had been ill the past six months. In addition to his parents, his passing was preceded by two brothers: Lonnie Thompson and Ernest Thompson; and a brother-in-law: Eddie Allen.
To cherish his memory, Everett leaves behind his beloved wife: Rose of Monroe; two daughters: Jennifer (Keith) Loveland of South Lyon and Crystal West of Monroe; five sisters: Aline (Eugene) Wegner, Denise Allen, Jeannette (Ken) Burnham, Bessie Baggett, Yvonne (Richard) Abbott; one brother: James (Joyce) Thompson; three grandchildren; Emma Loveland, Claire Loveland and Cole West; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may gather from 12:00-8:00pm on Monday, April 16 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe (734)384-5185 where a Masonic Service will take place at 6:30pm. He will lie in state from 10:00am until a Celebration of His Life at 11:00am, Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at First Wesleyan Church, 426 Jerome. Procession will follow to Maple Grove Cemetery in Dundee for burial.
