Virginia "Ginny" Ann Gaynier-Cousino
February 6, 1939 - April 13, 2012
Virginia Ann Gaynier-Cousino was born in Monroe, Michigan on February 6, 1939. She was the daughter of the late Alvin Gaynier and the late Viola (Cousino) Gaynier.
Ginny lived in LaSalle all her life and attended St. Joseph School in Erie and was a graduate of St. Mary Academy in Monroe. She went on to become a Licensed Practical Nurse working in Toledo, Ohio at Flower Hospital, St. Vincent Hospital and other medical facilities. She worked as an LPN for 20 years practicing in the newborn units.
Ginny married her high school sweetheart Elwood Cousino on May 8, 1999 at St. Joseph Church in Erie, Michigan, where she was a member of the church. She was also a member of the Rosary Altar Society. She loved to dance and attended VFW dances doing the Jitterbug and the Waltz, but claimed "she had two left feet" and couldn't Polka. Ginny loved her family. She took pride in caring for her home and tending to the her flower garden. Ginny loved to do crafts and shop. She also spent her time as Treasurer of the Watertower Senior Citizens in Luna Pier.
Virginia Ann Gaynier-Cousino age 73, passed away at 11:42pm, Friday, April 13, 2012 at her home. Her passing was preceded by her parents; a brother: Alvin J. Gaynier Jr.; and a sister- in-law; Margie Gaynier.
To cherish her memory she leaves a beloved husband: Elwood; four step sons: Jeffrey Cousino of Monroe, Bruce (Kim) Cousino of Monroe, Rodney Cousino of Ida, and Darin Cousino of Monroe; two sisters: Loretta Mae (Joe) Cory of Maumee, Mildred Carol (Henry) Puhl of Maumee; one brother: Arthur L. (Dorothy) Gaynier of LaSalle; six step grandchildren, Lauren, Caitlyn, Jessica, Hope Marie, Natalie and Emily; and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Friends may gather from 3:00pm until 8:00pm, Sunday, April 15, 2012 and Monday, April 16, 2012 from 3:00pm until 8:00 at Merkle Funeral Service, 9156 Summit Street in Erie (734)848-5185. She will lie in state at 10:00am on Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Erie, Michigan. A Celebration of Her Life will take place at 11:00am. Father Fred Kalaj will officiate. Procession will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Erie, Michigan.
