Norman Kenneth LeFevre Sr., age 77, of Monroe passed away at 10:20am; Monday, June 2, 2008 at the Tendercare of Monroe. He was under the care of Heartland Hospice. Norman was born on March 21, 1931 in Detroit, Michigan. He was a son to the union of the late Elmer LeFevre and the late Adel (Biggert) LeFevre. Norman was raised near Hillsdale, Michigan. He had also spent time living near Pittsford, Michigan before eventually moving to Monroe. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Norman had been married to Peggy Saxton and later he married Joann Bastien. For many years Norman was an independent truck driver. Later he would work for the Floral City Beverage Company as a driver. He was a member of the Teamsters. Norman enjoyed traveling especially to Northern Michigan. He spent much time there and even helped to build a cabin on family property. "Puttering" in his garden, woodworking in his home shop, working on old cars, and camping were all favorite pastimes. He also had a special love for animals. He leaves to cherish his memory three children: Norman K. (Cheryl) LeFevre Jr. of Angola, Indiana; Jeffrey S. (Robin) LeFevre of Woodburn, Oregon; Tamara (Stephen) Thorp of Hillsdale, Michigan; sixteen beloved grandchildren: Norman III, Jennifer, Jessica, Diana, Channing, Jeffrey, Elizabeth, Tracy, Matthew, David, Christopher, Alaina, Jonathan, Timothy, Tyler, and Noah; nine loving great grandchildren; three brothers: Eugene (Almyra) LeFevre of Walkerville, Michigan; Michael LeFevre of Bakersfield, California; Gordon LeFevre of Hastings, Michigan; three sisters: Sally Ho of Chicago, Illinois; Marlene (Richard) Nickles of Jonesville, Michigan and Leta Hugg of Bryan, Ohio; and a very special black and white shitszu: Maggie. His passing was preceded by his parents; three brothers: Harold, Arnold, and Jerry; and a sister: Lawellyn. Norman has lost several beloved family members to cancer. Because of his loss Norman chose to donate his body to cancer research. Med-Cure of Portland Oregon was entrusted with this donation. The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.
