Obituary of Janice Grodi

Please share a memory of Janice to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Janice Ann Grodi was born in Monroe, Michigan on October 17, 1946. She was the daughter of the late Carl Yoakum and the late Minnie (Robinson) Yoakum. She attended Monroe High School. Jan married Johnny Mayes and from this union came the birth of four daughters. Later in May of 1971 she would marry the love of her life Robert F. Grodi, and from this union came the birth of four children. She proudly took care of her home and children. Janice received her spiritual nourishment from attending Victory Temple Church in Monroe. She loved spending time with her children; especially her three boys whom she called the light of her life, her grandchildren, and family. Janice enjoyed playing cards, such as poker and spades, and she was infamous for her Pepsi with ice. She was a huge Kasey Kane and NASCAR fan. Even with her small stature Janice was strong and spunky. She liked to "wear the pants" and when she snapped her fingers the family jumped. Janice had a great sense of humor. Janice Ann Grodi age 65 passed away at 11:20am, Friday, April 6, 2012 at her home. In addition to her parents, her passing was preceded by her beloved husband, Robert and daughter Fancy Fair Mayes. She leaves to cherish her memory seven children: Johnnie (Lee) Kelly of Temperance, Carla (Timothy) Woodby of Monroe, Misty (Irving) Strack of Newport, Robert E. Lee Grodi of Monroe, Lynnette (William) Ploeger of Carleton, Abraham (Michelle) Grodi of Monroe, and Joshua (Teanna) Grodi of Monroe; one step daughter: Kimberly (George) Meyers of Monroe; two sisters: June (Jim) Marcus of Georgia, and Jackie (Gerald) Dyer of Erie; three brothers: Denny (Linda) Yoakum of Nebraska, Johnny (Sherry) Yoakum of Newport, and Mike (Sheila) Yoakum of LaFollette; twenty-three grandchildren, and sixish great grandchildren. Friends may gather from 4:00-7:00pm Monday, April 9, 20012 at the Victory Temple Church, 832 South Roessler Street. A Celebration of Her Life will follow at 7:00pm with Rev. Alfred Whitaker and Rev.
