Obituary of Beverly Joan Meade

Beverly Joan McDow was born in Trenton, Tennessee on July 24, 1953. She was one of three children born from the union of the late Hiram and Sarah (Gourley) McDow. Beverly attended Flat Rock Schools graduating from their High School in 1973. On December 29, 1978, she married the love of her life Earmel “Glen” Meade Sr. at Angelica Lutheran Church in Allen Park. From their union would come the birth of four children. Beverly loved her family dearly, and she enjoyed spending time with her children. For several years, Beverly was employed in the Quality Control Division of General Motors Company. She left her position to assist her husband in the family business, Newport Auto Repair. She maintained the business’s books for more than ten years working side by side with Glen. Beverly was well-known for her caring, generosity, and sense of humor. She was one of a kind, loved to make others laugh, and those who knew her intimately, often said “the greatest person ever”. Beverly liked spending time organizing, crafting, cross stitching, and making jewelry. She often visited the racetrack especially the Flat Rock and Toledo Speedways. Beverly was a past member of Mother’s Against Drunk Driving (MADD). She had been blessed with six grandchildren, and she happily made them the center of her universe. Beverly Joan Meade, age 63, of Newport passed away at home under the care of Heartland Hospice on Thursday, December 8, 2016. Her loving family was by her side. Her passing was preceded by her parents. To cherish her memory, Beverly leaves her beloved husband of nearly thirty-eight years: Glen of Newport; four children: Earmel “Glen” (Marlene) Meade Jr. of Brownstown, Kelly Meade of Newport, Sherri Meade-Boudrie (Shawn) of Monroe, Jason (Beth) Meade of Trenton, Michigan; one sister: Kathie (Rick) Oakley of Grosse Isle; one brother: Gary McDow; grandchildren: Megan, Monica, Earmel III, Kandice, Colin, and Abigail; many nieces and nephews; and her four-legged companion, a miniature pincher: “Jessi.” Friends may gather on Monday, December 12, 2016 from 2:00pm-7:00pm at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185.
