I was saddened to hear of the loss of BIG Jim (as I called him). My prayers and thoughts I send to Paula and the family. I met Jim through the TRC and I feel that the grounds of the Toledo Rowing Club and eastern shore of the Maumee River will seem empty without his voice and being. Hugs, jokes, silly complaints, constant support and teasing were Jim's way of supporting thousands of people in his reign as the boathouse lord.

I was just sitting here thinking of my buddy no one could really understand the type of relationship Jim and i had he was MY BESTFRIEND. And today has been one long week with out me knowing he is just a phone call away even knowing he is now and angle in the sky i know if i need him he will still be my angle down on earth as he has always been for the last 13yrs. I have been having me some "wheels" with drawls i miss him more then can be imagined even with him being in Ann Arbor and myself in Monroe we made sure we seen each other as much as possible even if it was me just sitting in the van talking and laughing and the 2 little ones playing on the lift with his best driver and friend ever we made every moment count and i just knew when he didn't answer the phone when i called him that something was wrong in my heart i felt the hurt before i even knew what happen "wheels" just let it be known i wish i knew you were in need of a friend by your side the last week you fought so hard for your life cause i would have been there for you in mind body and soul. I love you and miss you so much..

Jim was a regular customer at the Travel Centers of America and Country Pride, where I worked as a server. He was always funny and thoughtful. He always looked after the ladies that worked there, and would help them with just about anything. He will be very much missed and certainly never forgotten. Rest in Peace "Wheels".

I had the pleasure of meeting jim when i worked at TA and international cafe when i was a server at both places. If he knew i was down and out he helped me get through the situation with humor and advice. When he found out i was a coca cola collector he brought me in a few little things to add to my collection and i still have them today and they now are my most valued possession becuase they cam from a man that had a heart of gold and a wonderful friend.

I had the privilege to work with Jim as his physical therapist for about 2 years. He always teased me that I could not do a wheely like him. He was a big fan of my sons fiddle group. He was a pleasure to work with and to get to know him. I have a lot of respect for him. I know for sure he left his mark in the world.

I had the pleasure of knowing Jim in the last eighteen months of his life. He was a strong man with a welcoming personality and a great sense of humor. He "rolled with the punches" and never let the small things get him down. I will always remember his pride in his athletic accomplishments, the mentoring that he provided to others, and his love and involvement in his Monroe community. Jim will be missed by many.

I am so sorry to hear that Jim has passed. He was a great person, who always had a joke to tell me whenever I saw him. Jim will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Your family is in my prayers.
