Obituary of Anne Marie Thorn
Anne Marie Fountain was born in Toledo, Ohio on March 18, 1924. She was born from the union of the late Albert Fountain and the late Flora (Ross) Fountain.
Anne married the love of her life, Floyd C. Thorn on October 25, 1941 at Zion Lutheran Church in Monroe. From 1949 until its closing in 1956, Anne was employed by the Newport Telephone Company. She would later work at the Riverside Osteopathic Hospital in Trenton as an office clerk for more than fourteen years until retiring in 1971.
Anne was dignified, generous and loving to her family. She was a devoted caregiver for her sister (Blanche) for over 60 years. Anne enjoyed working with her numerous flower beds; she especially loved tending to her rose bushes. Her hobbies included: reading, visiting the library, working on family genealogy, traveling and sewing. Among her many hobbies, Anne also enjoyed cooking and baking for her family.
Anne Marie Thorn, age 92, of Newport peacefully passed away at home on Saturday, October 22, 2016. She had been under the care of hospice and her daughter (Kathryn Patterson). In addition to her parents, her passing was preceded by her husband: Floyd in 1992; a daughter: Karon Thorn; a son: Kenneth Thorn; three brothers: Gene Fountain, Rudy Fountain and Bert Fountain; a sister: Alice Coughlin.
To cherish her memory, Anne leaves a beloved daughter: Kathryn Patterson of Monroe; one sister: Blanche Fountain of Newport; one brother: Robert Fountain of Callaway, Florida; three grandchildren: Adam (Sondra) Thorn of Monroe, Angela (Paul) Yentz of Monroe and Kenneth Kepp (Connie) Thorn of Nauvoo, Alabama; six great-grandchildren: Emily (Andrew) Mutter, Clayton Thorn, Zechariah Yentz, Ernest James Thorn, Erin Thorn and Sophia Thorn; two great-great grandchildren: Bradley and Conrad Mutter; a close family friend and mother to Clayton: Sabrina Phillips of Monroe.
Private burial will take place at Roselawn Memorial Park at a later date. Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185 has been entrusted with her arrangements.
