Obituary of Richard James Lawson
Richard James Lawson was born in Monroe, Michigan on December 9, 1979. He was the son of James L. Lawson and the late Marsha (Rains) Lawson. He attended Monroe Public Schools. While in high school he participated with the swim team as a diver before graduating from Monroe High School in 1998.
On September 14, 2013 he married the love of his life the former Angela Miller. Richard was a hard-worker and he enjoyed working outside. For the past three years, he had been employed as a Hi-Lo Driver for Triple Crown Road and Rail.
Richard didn’t care to sit around and in fact enjoyed staying active. He loved many sports including: basketball, football, and golf. He was outgoing and friendly and was most passionate about spending time with family and friends often cooking on the grill or tinkering in the garage. Richard was a very special, doting uncle to his nieces: Makenna and Haley.
When he could make time to relax, Richard, appreciated the freedom of riding his motorcycle. He also occasionally watched his favorite television from the comfort of his recliner including reality shows: Gas Monkey, Gold Rush, pawn shows; and “Buddy” and NCIS.
Richard James Lawson age 36 of Monroe passed away 3:25pm at home on Friday, October 21, 2016. He had been under the care of Hospice of Michigan. In addition to his stepmother his passing was preceded by several grandparents: James R. Lawson and Warren and Marcetta Rains.
To cherish his memory he leaves a beloved wife: Angela of Monroe; his father: James Lawson of Monroe; paternal grandmother: “Mamaw” Patricia L. Leason of Monroe; and two brothers: Joshua David Lawson of Monroe and Christopher Paul Rains (Brittany) of Monroe.
Friends may gather from 2:00pm until 7:00pm on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at Merkle Funeral Service, South; 14567 South Dixie Highway (734) 241-7070. A Celebration of His Life will follow at 7:00pm also at Merkle’s with the Reverend B.J. McDaniel pastor of Frenchtown Missionary Baptist Church officiating.
