Obituary of Charles Andrew Liptow
Charles Andrew Liptow was born in Wyandotte, Michigan on April 24, 1939. He was the son of the late August and the late Nada (King) Liptow. Charles graduated from Wyandotte High school with the class of 1957. He served his country honorably, by enlisting in the United States Army, serving from 1962 to 1968 earning the marksman award.
Chuck, known by many as Charlie, supported his family by taking employment through DST as a mechanic and truck driver for thirty-five years. Charlie relocated out to California for a number of years through the 80's and 90's. He was a notorious Notre Dame Fighting Irish and Detroit Tiger fan; and regular watching the NASCAR race. He was very social and loved to talk to people. He loved his cars.
Charles Liptow, age 77 of Monroe, passed away at home on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 after a four-year struggle with multiple medical issues. He was preceded in death by his parents August and Nada Liptow.
To cherish his memory, Charlie leaves three children: Jill Liptow, Chad (Tracie) Liptow and Scott (Carey) Liptow; sisters: Janet Mallow and Geraldine Jennings; grandchildren: Connor, Camryn, Lily, Emmi, Meyah, and Joseph; eight nieces and nephews; and caregiver and special friend: Shirley Somerville.
Friends may gather to reflect on Charlie’s life on Friday, October 7, 2016 from 3:00pm to 8:00pm at Merkle Funeral Service, North Monroe, 2442 North Monroe St., Monroe, MI (734)384-5185. He will lie in state on Saturday, October 8, 2016 from 10:00 am until the Mass of the Resurrection at 11:00 am at St. Mary's Catholic Parish, 127 N. Monroe Street, Monroe, MI. Procession will follow to Mt. Calvary for burial.
